His new book is pretty funny.  It has a 'foreword' by Thomas Jefferson.  "I had to shit in a bucket and I was the President!"  Hypocritically, the last page of the book is an 'Open Letter' to Sean Penn - here's an excerpt:

".....somehow your public chastising of our political leadership is, even when dead-on target, really fucking irksome.  We realize our reaction is based on an emotional response and not an intellectual one.  It is the feeling that somehow you believe your standing as an artiste allows you to understand issues on a deeper level than the less-enlightened, when in truth your sober analysis, however correct, elicits a reflexive feeling of wanting to yell "Shut the fuck up, finish your Cobb Salad and get back to the set - Terence Malick says it's Magic Hour!"

P.S. We have a screenplay we would be honored if you would read.  You would be perfect for the part of "Tyler".  Joan Allen is attached."

I'm surprised people are still jumping on Penn.  I thought what he did took some sack.
