Entirely agree, Pat.  Their decision enrages me.   I support, and always have supported the Death Penalty. I believe that people who intentionally kill other people need to be put to death.  It doesn't take until age 18 for a human being to understand or intrinsically know that it is wrong to rape, torture, mutilate and kill another human being.  Animals that do these deeds, need to be put to sleep, and with the use of lethal injection it is in a lot more humane manner than the way many of them dispatched their victims.   Giant step backwards on this one.
Interestingly enough (actually quite sad). The pivotal judge Kennedy reverses his vote on the same issue from a 1988 decision. He cited that there is a consensus brewing in America for this as well as citing European law. I would like to see that consensus and when has America strived to be like Europe.
There is a reason why America is the greatest country in the world and it did not get there by adopting European philosophy

There is a CNN poll showing that 75% of Americans support displaying the 10 Commandments in places other than School Houses. Do you think the justices will check that consenus? I don't quite know what the framers were thinking when they gave the high judges lifetime posts and no accountability. Where is the check and balance there?
