Pat,
Women have abortions for many reasons. Kathryn has written eloquently concerning the circumstances that she and her family faced.I believe many women often feel compelled to have an abortion because of the dire financial circumstances they find themselves in.
I’ll bet you a lunch at Ruth Chris with you me and Rush that if you surveyed these women 20 or even 15 years later that the majority would regret the decision they made. There are other alternatives. This is the easy way out.
I imagine you would agree with me. Why is it then that the push for universal healthcare, a higher minimum wage, family friendly work policies, affordable housing, and affordable day care, typically comes from the Liberals?
The plan of liberals is to keep people Just Above Poverty. Dependence on government is a very scary thing and it does nothing to improve the situation other
than to create more dependence.
Surely improvements in these areas would sway some women and give them hope that they can raise that child they are carrying. I honestly question the sincerity (and, of course, the intelligence) of many pro-lifers. I am unapologetically pro-choice but I would love it if more women felt they could make a go of it with their child. We have far too many abortions, plain and simple, but how will fighting the aforementioned programs reduce the numbers? Please provide some insight from the Right.
Peter to think that giving these people more government money would only sway them to have more out of wedlock babies not less. This has been proven over and over by the welfare baby syndrome in poverty stricken black areas
Pat
