Actually, just to be accurate here, it was Roosevelt (some say he was actually foaming at the mouth to get into the war and despised Hitler so much so he leaked his Rainbow plan to the press to stir the pot...Hitler would later speak specifically about it and the threat of the US entering the war) and the Democrats that had to convince and make concessions to the conservatives to get approval to jump in.
So, that whole thing about "liberals being wrong then" was a total fabrication. Just to set the record straight.
