I have been following the taser controversy quite closely and what I have noticed is that a whole lot of information being spread is more than likely incomplete information. This story is an example of that. Very little information is available - for example, how big is this 12 yr old? What is her history? Does she have a history of violent behavior or mental disorders? Was the cop a man or woman and what was the size of the cop? There are just too many variables to allow a blanket statement of "Cops Taser 12 Year Old". I have seen 12 yr olds that could probably kick the asses of a lot of adults. Does this look and sound bad? Certainly, but too much information is left out. Also, in many of the Taser deaths, there are contributing factors that have lead to the death of the person (drug use, bad heart, health condition, et cetera) that get blamed on the Taser. In many of these cases, death might have resulted from just physically fighting with the suspect. Now, on the flip side, GOOD police officers love this new tool for what it does offer. The sad thing is that with any tool, there are those who do not use it properly and abuse it. I'm sure there are some cruel cops out there that have abused this tool and will do so again. Nothing is perfect. People complain about pepper spray (which also is a great tool - I have used it myself and when it works, it works well - though, some people are not affected by it at all) and nightsticks, unfortunately, fights do occur.
