I remember being a navvie in London in the late 80's and being part of an Irish community that was mistrusted and sneered at, due in no small part to the fact that 'the Ra' (PIRA) was blowing the shit out of people left, right and centre. I used to hang out with fellow navvies who came from Derry (the Bogside) or South Armagh (Bandit country) and whose allegiance was in no doubt. I used to drink in pubs where collections were openly made to support said 'freedom fighters' and I remember one day waking up to read that 3 Irish people (terrorists/freedom fighters...take your pick) had been assasinated in a manner not unlike the theme of your post 9/11 post in Gibraltar. And I felt sick all day...and I hated England and 'the Brits' and I saw the same humiliation on the faces of fellow navvies and we sang our songs while sticking to Biddy Mulligans in Kilburn or The Archway Tavern or the Swan cos we knew we were sort of safe there, and recently I thought about Jean Charles de Menizes and his undignified ending on a tube in Stockwell...and to cut a long story short

there's always another way. Let these lying, chief mischief making tricksters fool somebody else into their game. You like me must eventually choose to walk the same path that Gandhi did, or Jesus or Buddha, and give up all sense of personal wellbeing in order to secure the same for others. It is a creative choice...surely u can relate to that?
