>I was wondering if you can play a SACD on a regular CD player or >DVD player?
It's a mixed bag at the moment.....
Most DVD-A includes a Dolby Stereo Mix that will play on DVD-Video machines but of course, your not getting the full benifit of 5.1. They still sound mighty awesome.
SACD has developed the dual layer, or Hybrid disc that has the SACD mix underneath the regular CD mix, the laser just looks past that first layer when in an SACD machine. These will play in any CD player. I think this will become the popular format.
You need to read the fine print on each to determine what it can played on.
I have Bela Flecks "Bluegrass Sessions" on DVD-A and the Dolby Stereo mix is pretty awesome, can't wait to hear the 5.1 mix.
Neil Young's Harvest is out on DVD-A.
