Both XM and Sirius employ satellites and compressed audio.  It's different than Limewire or random fandom, in that it (satellite) is mastered., so the volume and dynamic range stay the same.

'round here I know people who use both satellite services even - the local programming sorta sucks, and with FM there's this whole horizon thing that satellite supercedes...oh, and the commercials...people don't like them either..

'40's musuc - what do you like?  My introduction was 'Is you is' - Louis Jordan and 'The (Rabbit) Lady in Red - It's not my job, but I know what I grew up with - I can stilll play the rabbit in red on my recorder...

I love that transition between bebop, the honkers...and jazz...saxamophones and guitars...unrelated link to follow

I looked, but it's late for me, there's a great interview somewhere on NPR with one of the Andrews sisters and a (famous) drummer talking about how new music has the 'beat' but (lyrically) none of  the love..might be all things considered...
