You should have been at dinner with me and an Aussie house
guest during the Crocodile Dundee period here in the US. The
black waitress was greeted by our friend with, 'what tribe are
you from?'.
Fortunately the young lady was completely clueless to
his
reference and then was good natured upon further inquiry
and explanation. But just imagine if she'd been an angry
militant sort. I can tell you I was having just such daymares as
I recognized his meaning and her color.
