Many Christians, not just fundamentalists, do not consider Mormons to be true Christians since they accept Joseph Smith as a prophet who built on Christianity rather than believing that Christ's teachings are the final word. In this, Mormons are comparable to Muslims, who also believe in a prophet who succeeded Christ, who they accept too.
