That was very close to my timeline... Vonnegut led me to Raymond Chandler, who led me to Thomas Pynchon, who led me to Thomas Wolfe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, etc.. Andrea and Jan will attest to my bookwormy youth. Vonnegut made me enjoy books, he spoke to a confused little kid in a language that kid could understand, and greatly enriched my life, and I'll be eternally grateful to him for that. I can't wait for Bek to discover him. (Vonnegut has to be discovered, as reading him is between the reader and Vonnegut, and teachers and boring old parents had better keep out.)
