I just got home tonight from a talk by Nobel-prize winning author Orhan Pamuk, who hails from Turkey. One of the Q&A questions had to do with the pending US resolution against the Armenian genocide. Pamuk, who faced trial at one point in his career in Turkey for criticising his country's actions against the Armenians said that the question of the Armenian genocide was one that went to the heart of Turkish morality and issues of free speech. He did not believe that foreign 'arm-twisting for political reasons' would help bring about peace or resolution one bit.

I have to agree with Pat and Ross on this one. The Democrats pursual of this resolution is ill-timed and ill advised. Clean-up belongs in our own back yard. Given the well-documented crimes of the current Administration, why aren't they pursuing impeachment proceedings against our own home grown criminals? If you want to condemn genocide and war crimes how come Henry Kissinger is still walking the streets a free man instead of being rendered to Cambodia or East Timor?
