I have never used DHL, so I can't speak of them.I have repeatedly used FedEx, and have had top-notch service at all times.I have frequently used UPS, and only once (in literally hundreds of shippings) did something "vanish." It was, of course, the only "irreplaceable" thing I have ever shipped. That item resurfaced some six months later. Seems it must have fallen behind a cabinet or something. No harm was done, and the company was very apologetic. My only other experience with UPS has to do with the way my friend (who has worked with them for a long time) was treated during and after the strike of 1996 or 7. He did not support the move to strike, and faced quite an ugly backlash at work for a long time.I suppose that happens any time one is strongly in the minority opinion at work.Of course, a lot of this ramble has nothing to do with packages being smashed to flinders as you describe. It hasn't happened to me . . . yet.Herring405
