But not THAT much blood.Just back from seeing it. I thought it was
a terrific piece of film making and a tour de
force for Day-Lewis. Wonderful acting and
direction all around and beautiful design and
cinematography.I had some issues with the music but my son (23)
loved it. It's also very well-scripted. I would
have loved hearing the pitch when Anderson said that
there would be only one word uttered in the first 20
minutes of the film...it's a word-sparse screenplay
but rich in story. It's definitely a film to see in a theatre, not a
rental. I need to live with it a little before writing
much more. I think there are all sorts of threads that
apply to our current times - oil, family, religion,
corporate greed, the kind of man (or woman) who is
competitive at all costs....It went very quickly to me (for over 2 1/2 hours and I
usually don't have that kind of patience. But, I saw
the Broadway production of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY on Thurs
and that runs 3 1/2 hours and flew by (also astounding acting
and direction) so maybe I'm finally getting a
handle on this patience thing.
