Sorry to bring this up again but it is Oscar day/night and I finally saw the thing last night. I was held captive by it, but to say that I liked it might be going a bit far.... A fine celebration of violence and filmmaking, I will say. Some fine dialogue... Not sure what the message was besides the fact that senseless violence is here to stay and God aint intervening... Sex with strangers is baaaaad? Life/death is a happy/unhappy accident? Or maybe there was no message; maybe the audience was just there to be entertained... Yay!! Those madcap Coen brothers have done it again!
Best Picture? Hope not...
Questions, though:
Why do Woody and Josh not get shown being blown away while everyone else does? Is it because we 'care' about these characters? Or maybe because they're on the A-List?
Why didn't psycho-boy kill Tommy Lee when he had the chance?
Did the wife get killed? My feeling is yes...
Just one (or two) of the many major plot holes: Why on earth would Josh Brolin go out in the middle of the night to give a dying (probably dead) criminal some water? Yeah, I know, he felt sorry for him, or guilty about not helping in the first place... Pretty stupid... Pretty dangerous... Not really in character... But a fine way to launch the film.... And, really, if he could outrun vehicles why did he have to get in one to escape towards the end of the film?
Hmmm, think I'll watch it again...
