I more or less felt the same way. I admired the filmmaking
but my vote (if it mattered) would go to There Will Be Blood which
I found (although another dicey ending) a far more profound film.
For me, there was nothing redeeming about the violence in NCFOM - I know that that was probably the point but the two friends and I who saw it were
not happy to have spent two hours in that place.
