Well this thread seems to have run its course, but thanks Cy and Big@al for weighing in too!I kept using Boston and the Clash as my examples because that's where the thread seemed to lead. I didn't mean to suggest that one could not be a fan of both--only to explain that I'm not.And I think the observation made above (was it Rosskol?) about self-taping & multitracking eventually leading to creative dead ends is right on. But like Cy, I am one of the evidently small number--perhaps the first one EdLorah has met--who will claim that the music of Boston was, for me, revelatory, life-changing, a source of more than cheap thrills.I've felt the contempt of Clash fans, Sex Pistols fans, etc . . . but their attitude toward my experience doesn't change it any. I've even met plenty of people who would claim that rock & roll died some time around 1965, and that the only good rock and roll is the stuff from before then. Maybe there is something to that. Anyway -- enjoyable thread. Hardly a gaping rectum to be found in it. I vote for more like this.Herring405
