Forgotten Love-Jaco Pastorius. An exquisite and short piece of music. Jaco was not only a fire
breathing dragon of a player, he also wrote and arranged some beautiful compositions, like this one,
which is one of my all time favs. Perhaps the greatest tragedy of his short life was that we will never
know what other great works he could have composed. What I love about this one, is the beautiful
entry of the string section which plays a wistful strain and to me evokes an intense sadness; a
longing or mourning for something or someone, then the sparse piano lines and finally a more
dischordant string exit. I only wish it were longer, but perhaps the brevity is what really makes the
statement. I don't believe Jaco actually plays on this one. Aside from the string section, I recall it is
Herbie Hancock on piano. I'll have to check the liner notes. It's from Jaco's debut album.
This is a quick downloaded MP file. Don't miss it!apologies..it is an M4A file, which plays on MAC, and any PC with itunes. You will need winamp
player to play it on a PC otherwise.
