Two things -which won't help with the munch mouths but- stick a couple of matches in the dirt around the pepper plants(they like sulfur), and get yourself some epsom salt, follow the instructions on most packages, and foliar feed them some magnesium. Particular to the pepper it helps the fruit set.

Should you have one of those rapid grow hose attachments that you can add powders or granuals to, there's a decent chance your entire garden will benefit from an epson salt shower now and again. I've got to refit the house so I can take an epson soak(for the muscles and a little foliar feeding for me) and then get double duty via the grey water.

I'll get back to you later on down the road about gardening without fences. I've got to start taking notes on that subject while I'm browsing. I've stumbled across a number of plants(while reading about companion planting for instance) which claim to be repellents or act as living fences against a variety of four legged critters rather than insects. I wish all these books were searchable pdf's, then I could devote a day to it, and write a book of my own, lol.

I'll be interested to hear about your learning curve.-)
