One never quite knows how to feel about those moments . . .

don't we like the clever fox, in general? But not with our ducklings scooped into her jaw.

I was just talking to my oldest today about the distinction people make between animals we like, and those we don't. We like dogs that are tame & are ours, but not ones that attack our livestock. We like rabbits in a sort of general, pastoral way, but not ones that eat our pepper plants down to the nub.

He doesn't understand why anyone would shoot a rabbit.

I told him he's planting the peppers next year.

Hahaha.
