For the life of me, I can't understand the pleasure of devoting one's free time to whacking a ball into a cup (all the while paying exorbitant course fees, with the sun beating down overhead). On the other hand, throwing a larger ball, through a rim that's perched 10 feet above the ground, has offered me great enjoyment for decades. And I now derive enormous pleasure from rebounding for my daughter while she engages in this activity. Go figure. The point of the parody was obviously to poke fun at our collective veneration of athletes, and I would add celebrities. Genuine role models and heroes are all around us, but we aren't accustomed to seeing and appreciating them. I was blessed to be raised by two. Peter T.
