It has been absolutely surreal . . . for the past three weeks much of Northern California has been covered in smoke . . . here in Grass Valley we have days where the visibility is akin to fog . . . outdoor activities canceled, respiratory problems for many. In this area we are surrounded by major fires (not threatened) so the smoke comes at us from all angles . . . if there is no wind an inversion layer sets in and the smoke settles down and things get eerie with a strange sort of smoke induced mugginess . . . when the wind blows, any direction viola, more smoke . . . it is starting to clear up, but still smoky . . .
