I know after that series of responses from Mess, Ed, Andrea, and I you are probably thinking "Oh, here we go again, they are looking the other way for one of their guys!" but that is not at all the case. People here may have personal feelings about what Edwards did and that's fine but the point is it is not significant to what is going on in the world. The media seems to have trained a large segment of the populous to play and participate in this game of political "Gotcha!" but all it does is distract us and give some people a certain sense of self righteousness. It's as big a waste of time and thought as all of this accusing everybody of being a hypocrite or the obsession with getting people to apologize on tv. Quite simply who gives a fuck!

I never thought Edwards was a saint or anything close to that. Hell, plenty of people on this board think he's a jerk and a phony and this current incident will only feed those thoughts. I thought and still think he best served at this moment in time given our choices what we needed in terms of a leader that would try to begin to point us in the right direction. I did not think he was our savior or a prince of peace or the man who would end poverty. I thought he was the guy that would put up a good fight, put together a solid team, and have a decent chance of getting others to work with him. I did not think Clinton or Obama served this purpose as well and I still don't. Just because he got laid does not make me feel he's any less suited to the job.

So Edwards is done now probably for good in terms of being a part of our government. Cheer that if you want but I don't think it's something to applaud. Right wing nuts win this round of meaningless "Gotcha!" and sure we've played it on the left too but what do we win? Nothing. Do you really sit there and enjoy that Edwards and his wife get to suffer and be embarrassed? Great, if that's the case and this improves your life wahoo for you.

I know we've had many Right Wing nuts get nailed here too. One huge difference between them and Edwards though is the Right Wing nuts claim to be and run on the fact that they are the "Family Values" crew, all that's good and pure in this country, and they spend a lot of time damning people for not living what they feel is a "good Christian lifestyle" and when you sling that bullshit while you are out scoring sex with other men in public restrooms, snorting coke, trying to pick-up children on the internet or fuck your teenage intern in the ass and blowing a fortune on hookers, well...there's gonna be some backlash and people might find you are a bit of a nutcase.

Fair is fair though, I guess, and you can now dance on Edwards political grave if it makes you feel good. Hell, life is short and there's a shitload of people to bomb before we die.
