Kevin, thanks for posting that. It can't have been easy for you.

(Actually, I was thinking of you recently when I drove past a pro-life billboard that I've passed a thousand times. It features a huge photo of a very tiny fetus. We were on the way home from a seafood restaurant, and my four-year-old piped up from the back seat, "Daddy, why is there a big picture of a little shrimp on there?" But I digress.)

I have known so many conservative types who out of blindness have driven their own children to do terrible things . . . when the youngsters feel that they can't even tell their parents of the "trouble" they're in for fear of embarrassing the family. I've long felt that the folks who create that kind of atmosphere in their families are the ones who ought to foot the bill for some of the abortions they end up causing. And if abortion were made illegal, then it is the iron-fisted unapproachable parents who ought to be jailed for its continued practice among their frightened progeny. But of course I am, as always, a dreamer.

And I recognize that your views on the subject probably haven't shifted--it's just that you don't see this one issue as causing you to vote for the person who appears to espouse your belief on it, given other things that the guy stands for.

Personally, I still can't see this election as anything more than theatre. But hey, maybe once the show is over, we'll all grab hands & head for the doors and step blinking into the sun.
