I read the book when it first came out and was captivated by the writing. I have read it again since and didn't recapture the magic I felt upon the first reading. Perhaps it was because I read Lucky (Alice Sebold's autobiography - she's not had a very happy life) and then her second novel, The Almost Moon, which seemed to me to have no merit whatsoever, inbetween the two readings. The only reason I kept reading The Almost Moon was that I felt it must surely get better (it didn't).Alyssa loves The Lovely Bones - has read it numerous times and can't wait to see the movie, which opens here on 3rd January. I have mixed feelings. Has anyone seen it and if so, what did you think?
