Christian tolerance seemed to work out ok, well excepting for present day Christians, LOL. In reality, the most ardent of Christians favored separation of Church n State during the post revolutionary days because they were most intimately aware of the evils of any state church; what with believers of various stripes being jailed throughout the colonies prior to the revolution.

In fact, there is considerable evidence, that the Bill of Rights, which is fairly well meaningless today, would not have come to pass without the insistence of Christian believers throughout the colonies.

Suffice it, the victors write the history books, etc.
