Did you ever ask a criminal if he/she even cares what laws outlaw him (he's already illegal anyway)? They'll still have them. And you won't. That is fertile ground for him.

Look around. Look at Mexico for (just one) example. Impossible to legally own a gun there and yet 60,000 plus gun deaths in the past couple of years (by cartels / criminals etc). Gun free zones like that are awesomely simple for a criminal. Newtown was no different either.
