Along about 2003 I started chugging through my 1k+ cd collection - thinking
I'd be ok with mp3. And it was for car listening/backpack headphone etc.
But when I made the switch to all digital distribution for my audio - I
heard the difference that lossless offered (to be fair - I didn't copy the
first go round at 320k). So it was back to copying from CD all over again. My advice - if you're going to copy your CDs - go with flac. I, too, use
DBpoweramp.

Now your patrons have all left you in the red. Your low rent friends are dead. This life can be very strange.
