Come on, Dale, surely you can show a glimmer of pleasure that so many of our fellow citizens who have suffered in ways that we cannot possibly fathom, now have the freedom to marry whoever they love. Are you trying to equate the kerfuffle over the religious cake bakers to the millennia old, entrenched, institutionalized, and lethal discrimination perpetrated against homosexuals? The bigoted bakers are the real victims? Are you kidding me? Dissenters to today's ruling can take solace that in some states gays and lesbians can still be discriminated against with respect to employment and public accommodations. I just don't see you with that loathsome group. We've met on a few occasions, and frankly I think you're a thoughtful, decent guy. I admit I don't get your affinity for prog rock but that's neither here nor there. :}

So join me, Dale, at least for today. Let's take stock in how far America has come, but let's not forget those who are being jailed, tortured, and executed elsewhere in the world. There's work to be done. And let's not forget the millions of long deceased gays and lesbians who suffered so agonizingly in silence and never would have envisioned such a sweet day as this.
