The margin of the vote isn't a surprise, but it's still sad to see that 4 members of the court have a much different view of human rights than the 5 that got it right (IMO of course).
Yeah we knew this was coming for
months. Both Kagan and Ginsberg had presided over gay weddings in the
past so they should have recused themselves but there was a fat chance
that was going to happen. How it happened is an interesting it all
started with this:
President Barack Obama shifting stance on
gay marriage
So lying for the greater good is always ok. Well it is if you are a liberal. Not a conservative.
Then there wasProp 8 in California . In Califonia of
all places 7 short years ago they could not defeat this so what did they
do.
They
go against the will of the American voter to any liberal judge they can
find to get this overturn it.
Next is the endoctrination of the pubic from the mass
media. It's pretty easy to figure out how America was
duped.
Put a
gay couple or gay friend in every sitcom or reality show and 7 years
later and to the uninformed voter thinks
there is 10x more gays than in reality
there are. I have to say a brilliant move. I would be willing to bet
less than 1 in 10 know that
statistic. So to think America has shifted on it's own is a
fallacy. They had a lot of coaching.
All of what I'm saying above is not a matter of opinion it is a statement
of fact. It's not hard to read the Tea Leaves.
So
what is next? Well first is to sue churches unwilling to marry gay
couples and the next is to go after a church's Tax Exempt status if
they don't comply. Kind of a McCarthyism for the 2015's. I say don't do that, but I have a
strong feeling it will happen anyway.
What amazes me is the lack of pushback but it's had to do when
you have a ready media to pounce and a very organized militant gay
army. People are afraid to speak their mind. And in the end conformity
does not necessarily mean agreement, instead it creates resentment.
I was listening to a conservative talk show host speaking of a very
old gay couple coming out for the celebration in New York and he said
they appeared dazed what was going on. Like they could barely believe it
was happening and the host was happy for them. I agree with Dale
in saying I'm happy for them. It's been a long time coming and it is now
here.
