Earlier on the DBIS board I posted how I've given up on the gun debate for a variety of reasons, but here's an illustration that is the epitome of the failure of this debate....Bill Maher had a conservative politician on (one I don't care for) and when they were talking about this and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill, he kept ranting on about we just can't have guns kept from the hands of LEGAL would be gun owners. He kept tying this concept to the idea of keeping guns out of the hands that should not have them their hands. These are two distinct topics when it comes to guns, so, the debate was NEVER about keeping guns out of the ownership of legal owners, but he kept blurring the debate with this bullshit and that it was.And this is one reason why this debate is so futile.
