The problem, GAtkinson, is that these people's thoughts are not based upon evidence but on superstition and "feelings". Don't you conservatives generally frown upon ideas based upon feelings (rather than facts, or at least informed opinions)? When 83% of Americans believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus (notwithstanding the opinions of biblical scholars), and only 28% believe in evolution, then reason be damned!

Given the innumerable instances of religion-based atrocities over the centuries, isn't it time for a little reason?
