As I've gotten older, I try more than ever to make the best use of my time. I mean the clock is ticking, sir. As a college freshman I was introduced to the concept of "opportunity cost" and it has really resonated with me as each year advanced. Past pleasures have been jettisoned in favor of podcasts. So, I have these programs with me everywhere, doing everything (on the treadmill, driving, taking walks, doing laundry, the dishes, etc.). My wife and daughter are on board as well. On the downside, it's really cut into the time I spend listening to music.

My recommended podcasts are:

Waking Up with Sam Harris (absolute favorite) On Point with Tom Ashbrook (Tom is recovering from an operation but will return) Freakonomics Radio Planet Money The Axe Files with David Axelrod

and two recent additions, Pod Save The World and Pod Save America, which are hosted by former Obama staffers.

My daughter is a big fan of the Serial podcast from the folks at This American Life.

I'd love it if others would share their favorites (but I sense few will chime in).
