Thanks for the deep drill, EEE, love your insight, and compassion! 

I wonder, from a black person's perspective, if their default assumption when being pulled over or questioned by the police is that it is racially motivated? I could see how they would have this perspective but I guess I could see that they may be wrong some of the time. And if you have been slighted, or worse, humiliated in the past by such encounters with law enforcement, that has to sting in ways that the average white person can in no way comprehend. God, it's all so sad, and seemingly intractable, yet violent crime is down by 50% from several decades ago!

Do you think that overall, it's better to have minority officers patrolling minority neighborhoods, EEE? It would seem that it might eliminate at least a perception of racial bias during encounters with the police. At the same time, I've heard that it's no panacea.
