We wanted to leave that honor to you, Mick. It's much bigger when someone from another country makes the announcement. 

It is a first, we have never had a former (or sitting) president indicted. 

Now we have to wait to see the indictment unsealed, there will be anywhere from 2 to 34 felony counts in there from what I understand. The maximum prison time he could get is said to be 1 year...which means he will get none. 

This will make this the third item he will be going to trial for, he has two civil suits already going to trial. One involving taxes, the other one of his sexual assault victims. 

OK, so what does it really mean? Well, first it should be bad news for him as far as running for president. What should happen here is his Republican opponents should be bringing it up over and over and pointing out he has three cases already in court, one a felony indictment, and three other major investigations ongoing, where he could be charged at any time. 

Of course, we don't live in a normal world any longer, so his opponents will not use this to their favor. Trump would, of course, if this was DeSantis this was happening to or anybody else he was running against, but in the Republican party now, you are not allowed to point out Trump's wrongdoing because if you do, they will throw you out of the party. 

This is why, even though he is the most legally wounded candidate ever to run for president, he is still going to crush the field and be the Republican candidate for president in 2024. Democrats tried this with Hillary with her running while she was under investigation (not indicted) and we saw how that turned out. Trump himself said a person should not be running for president while they are being investigated by the federal government...he was correct...he is under several federal investigations, under indictment now, and has civil suits pending...and he sure as hell is still going to run. 

He is also going to fundraise off of his criminal activity like crazy. He is likely to rake in millions from this indictment from the wackos that still support him and a shitstorm of dirty money that wants to keep the American political landscape a perverse carnival. So, we know that will happen. 

The Republican party, once again, has a chance to back away from him but they are not. They are circling the wagons around him, helping to guarantee he will be their presidential candidate and that his insanity will continue to infect and divide the country. His Republican opponents won't make any comments on this, which is insane, except to pretend that this is a travesty of justice. A mistake of epic proportions BUT they do not want to upset the MAGA crowd and they know if they lose them, they can't win a primary. 

So, all of Trump's Republican opponents have to pretend they think that Trump getting indicted is horrible, even though it is the best thing that could have happened to them and their party. This is just insanely hilarious on one level, but means they are now stuck with Trump. 

Again, if the shoe was on the other foot, Trump would go all in using this against DeSantis, Pompeo, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, any of the people he is running against. All DeSantis said about it was he would not extradite Trump from Florida if Trump failed to turn himself in. This was after Trump's lawyers said Trump would turn himself in. Plus everybody on Trump's team knows that Trump would never allow his opponent, DeSantis, to play any part in turning him over to the authorities because this would infuriate Donny. It would give Ron such an upper hand over him Trump's head would explode. So, literally DeSantis did the dumb thing he likes to do and announced he would not do something that would never happen. Brilliant! This is why Ron has no shot against Trump. You can't be Donny's lap dog and expect to beat him in a primary. 

So, this is once again going to work to destroy and divide the Republican party. Smart Republicans will once again want to take the off ramp, point out that Trump should not be running for president and highlight his legal situation. Dumb Republicans, who are running the show now, will defend Trump and go down with the ship. 

Trump's polling before the indictment in a general election was horrible. After this it will be even worse. He was already losing Independent voters by 60% and he was losing about 25-30% of Republican voters. He's cooked in a general election against whatever Democrat runs. Those numbers are going to get worse for him now. He will crater in a general, but bad news for Republicans, this will probably help him in the primary against his fellow Republicans. He still destroys all of his fellow Republicans in primary polling. 

Let's see what Trump's wacko supporters do. According to the people watching them, they are not planning a big violent event but instead are threatening small violent actions like attempting to kill Bragg, grand jurors, judges, and various Democrats. Trump has asked them to start a war, which is essentially another crime he should be charged with, and if violence comes, he pushed for it to happen again.
