I've seen a few episodes of it. I think the first one I watched was the one where he interviews Tarantino. They both get pretty loaded during the show and there is some slurring of words and Maher is babbling and losing track of his thoughts. Tarantino sometimes stares drunkenly at Bill. I think the thing that Bill does not get or just does not care about is if I am watching him interview someone, I want to hear what the guest has to say not what Maher wants to babble about. Of course, when he is drinking and smoking dope he becomes even more prone to injecting himself into the conversation. I will admit if I was sitting there with him I would probably end up telling him to shut the fuck up for a minute.
Bobby Kennedy has been 40 years clean and sober so does not partake in the booze and dope while he is there, which I think as a presidential candidate is probably the right thing to do anyway. He does look a bit nervous a few times and he does say to Maher that he thinks this may have been a mistake to do this show. Bill tells him it is not because what Trump showed was people want a candidate they can relate to that speaks and acts like they do. I can say, for me, no, that's not what I am looking for. I am looking for a person that appears qualified and capable of doing the job.
So, yes, Bill is right Trump appeals to some people with his ignorance and stupidity but only because he wants to bring out their ignorance and stupidity.
RFK Jr. does do a smart thing during the interview, he recognizes Maher likes to talk about himself and so rather than go down whatever bizarre path Bill wants to take him on, he gets Maher talking about himself...Bill happily obliges.
I think the show is funny and Maher, who always seems to want to light up wherever he is, can be amusing but I want to hear his guests more than him...even if Quentin is slurring and mispronouncing things.
Has he had a woman on the show yet, so far it seems like all guys, which maybe is what he wants.
