I think a case can be made for Springsteen's Fender Esquire that was prominently displayed on the cover of Born to Run. As for the most valuable bass, how about the one smashed by Clash bass player, Paul Simonon, on the cover of London Calling? I'm obviously biased as these two artists are at the top of my musical mountain.
