When my youngest and I were watching it, before Payne revealed the eye humor was blatant but subtle, it was so deftly handled I was actually concerned with Paul Giamatti's health and was wondering if it was declining during filming because I did notice how his eyes kept changing throughout the movie. Especially the one morning when he woke up after a bender.
And it was such a welcome respite from violence and sex. Sometimes, one just wants to sit down and watch an uplifting and feel-good movie and this is certainly that.
