in Heather Cox Richardson’s 1/2/24 Substack “Letters From an American”.
“In a New York Times article from December 31, Peter Baker, Edward Wong, Julian E. Barnes, and Isabel Kershner emphasize that Biden and his team have been engaged constantly in diplomacy with Israel, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. Since the October 7, 2023, attack by Iran-backed Hamas on Israel, Biden has spoken with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu 14 times and visited Israel; Blinken has traveled to the region three times and visited Israel five times.”
The Biden Administration is continuing to work behind the scenes and Netanyahu’s coalition is not happy about that, at all. That’s a good thing though.

“For many in Netanyahu’s coalition, this is no time to yield to international demands and reduce the war’s pace.
Danny Danon, a senior Likud lawmaker, spoke for others on Monday when he accused the prime minister of ‘bowing down in the face of American pressure.’ The far-right coalition members are even more adamant and speak publicly about moving nearly all of Gaza’s 2.2 million inhabitants to other countries.”
I only hope that Biden’s pressure really is causing Netanyahu to bow down to what we’re demanding they do. What Netanyahu and his criminal cronies have in mind for Gaza is nothing short of horrendous; as if what they’ve already done isn’t atrocious and evil enough.
