As to the conservatives donating more money than liberals, it would be interesting to know where the money goes. I imagine that mormons keep their donations largely within the LDS community, and I get it. Do evangelicals also keep it within the "tribe"? And again, I get it, as all tribes most likely favor donating within one's own community.  Liberals surely are the largest donors to the ACLU, pro-choice organizations, anti-gun groups, etc.  A case can be made that more authentic charity extends beyond one's own group, to those you don't readily identify or agree with, to those in other cultures, to those you'll never meet.
