I don't think lots of Democrat voters are turning away from him, but a small percentage are yes. The thing about that is, I believe that is just to put pressure on him. I think he can win those voters back.
The way I would put it is, yes, I am and I think Democrats should be a bit nervous about Biden in the election, but if I were a Republican, I would be absolutely horrified about Trump's chances in the election. While Biden may have sprung a small leak of voters due to his age and Israel, Trump has a massive leak that just keeps getting worse and will get worse as his legal and financial situations collapse around him. This and the fact that he says crazier and crazier shit by the minute is shrinking his support down to just his wacko base. I promise you, Mick, he can't win an election with them.
Biden has secured the majority of Democrats, will likely get more independent voters, and is going to get some Republican voters. That is how you win an election for president here, with across the board support. It is how Trump won in 2016. It is why he has never won since, his strategy has been to divide the country, divide the Republican party, and play to a small group of nuts. OK, well, that worked for taking over the Republican party, because he split the party into his faction and the faction that can't stand him. Problem is, that's not a strategy that works to win anywhere except in a Republican primary. You can't win general elections like that.
We do have a wild card in Bobby Kennedy running as an independent. He is the only thing working in Trump's favor. Trump's campaign is a disaster, Trump's financials are a disaster, Trump's personal life is a disaster, and Trump has legal problems coming at him from all directions. On top of this Donald looks like his health is becoming a major issue for him.
Bobby Kennedy is all Trump has working in his favor. If Bobby gets a big chunk of the vote in the general election, well, that gives Trump a shot. Not a great shot, but a shot to get closer to Biden than he could ever get if Kennedy was not in the race. If someone can convince Kennedy to drop out, to do the right thing for the Democrats...well...then nothing is working for Trump. Other than Kennedy, none of the other independent candidates will pull enough votes to make a dent.
Each day that passes here, each day Trump's situation grows worse, due to the money he owes through the lawsuits he lost, and potential criminal issues in the upcoming cases...well...Trump's path to winning just continues to disintegrate. It did not look good to begin with and it is just crumbling before him.
Now, we still may get a horrific fight in November, because Trump's plan, again, is to claim he won even if he gets destroyed and he will incite the freaks that follow him to go to war.
This is it, all of Trump's eggs are in this basket. He only has one plan and that is just to say he won and hope his followers will start killing people.
I know you are not enjoying this, I get where you are coming from. I think David is still going to take a bite out of your ass if you continue to sound, satirically, like you are expecting the worst for us.
It's a sad time here, Mick, and I think we are all on edge going through this. Honestly, I never thought I would live through something like this in the United States. It's shocking. I mean, I know we have always had Nazis among us, I just never thought we would have a US president that would platform them!
We are all strapped onto this fucked up merry-go-round until November and we can't get off. Our ability to co-exist is going to be severely challenged by this. When you do the "We are all doomed!" posts you are spooking all of us already very skittish horses.
