I don't want to excuse anyone's behavior. I think Franken is a chump and an embarrassment to the left...which is a shame, because he does great research, and I tend to agree with the crux of his arguments. But he ruins them with his total inability to disagree without getting emotional. I don't know what the hell Dean was thinking.

That having been said, I think it's infuriating that the media (I assume you saw the Franken story on Fox, since I got an e-mail about it from my wife's right-wing cousin) jumped on Franken's profane tirade and ignored Miller's gaffes.

My wife's cousin started off lamenting all this "mudslinging" and "personal attacks"...then when I pointed out Miller's jokes, he started huffing and puffing. "He must not have been on the same stage with Bush...Bush must not have known about it...I never heard about this..." even when I sent him articles, he continued to make excuses. I said something to the effect of "if this was 1988, you'd be standing up for Lee Atwater"...to which his response was, "Man, that ad was great. I loved it!"

I guess it's only mudslinging if they're insulting your guy.

Which is what interests me about this play...
