Look, I know that David's response to you is the more sensible one here, and made me laugh, but honestly Pat, you should think about why Trump is selecting some of the people he is.
I know people will say I am wasting my time explaining this but I will keep it short and simple.
Yeah, Gaetz is not likely to be AG, unless the Senate goes along with Trump's recess appointment scam and they avoid doing their job evaluating and confirming his picks. Then all his picks will be "acting" not the actual AG or Secretary of Defense, or Director of National Intelligence, or whatever. Because you can't really hold the position until you have been confirmed. The Senate is supposed to put these people through the process to make sure we are getting good people, people the American people can trust to do the job, and not people that are compromised. It is meant to be an important process that assures we get a good cabinet.
The recess appointment thing is supposed to be for emergencies only when for some reason the Senate is unable to go through the confirmation process. There is no emergency, Trump wants to use the recess deal to go around oversight...that's your oversight, Pat, because the Senate are our elected officials that are supposed to be doing this work on our behalf.
However, Trump has already said out loud he wants no confirmation process. That in and of itself should set off alarm bells. Then you look at the people he is choosing and they all seem to be designed to send a very specific message..."I'm choosing the worst people possible for these jobs INTENTIONALLY!"
Why would we want that to happen?
I did not even know who Pete Hegseth was until Trump announced he was his choice for Secretary of Defense. Then I see they start playing the clips of him on FOX news, I guess he is a weekend guy, and I think "This has got to be a joke."

I mean he may as well have chosen you, Pat, for the job. Or he could have picked you for AG. So what that you are not a lawyer. Or make you the DNI. His point is EXACTLY to pick people that are not qualified to do the job, are such awful picks it stuns people, and/or are picks that have said such outrageous shit they should be nowhere near the job or government in general.
He's not doing it to make the country better, to protect us, or to fix anything...he's literally trying to show he could put anybody in these positions and we can't stop him. He could nominate the groundhog that lives under my shed.

He picked Tulsi Gabbard to be our DNI, she is suspected of being a foreign intelligence asset, this is not a secret...so really the last person you would ever put inside our intelligence community. But there she is, his pick for DNI. She is supposedly one of Putin's girls. Do I think Trump knows this? Absolutely! What message is he sending with that pick? Who is he sending it to? He is not making America safer with that pick. That's not one for the American people, Pat. Is the Senate going to confirm her? I would have to think fuck no!
Marco Rubio, he's in. Probably easily passes Senate confirmation. Even Democrats will probably confirm him. Best guy for the job? Probably not, but that as close to a normal pick as you are going to get.
Oddly, the one person that MAGA land seems to hate is Marco Rubio. He's not enough of a toad for them. That's the guy they are most complaining about.
