I don't know if I'd call 18 Musicians uplifting, either. Side-bumping? Zig-swaying? I don't know how to describe what it does to me, but I Like It! It just transports me to whereever it goes. I only listen to it in my car, and that's about all I listen to in my car, and it never ceases to put me in a charged mental state. If there are beings that live in close-but-alternate universes, then this is the music to see them by. I dont know as how I'd call it uplifting, but I wouldnt trade it for the Gettysburg Address. And you're right about Arvo Part. He and Gavin Bryars are holding the old school walls up, all by themselves. Speaking of Gavin Bryars, do you know his "Jesus' Blood Never failed Me"? For me anyway one of the most emotionally stirring and traumatzing pieces of music ever recorded, and another piece of music that grows with repeated listenings, especially in the car. It puts the street into slomo.
