I think really, it is extremely hard for people with empathy, love, caring, feelings for their fellow humans, which is really most of us here, to wrap their brain around someone who is truly so wrapped up in themselves that those 20 million people killed with the swipe of a Sharpie are not even a blip on the radar. Being an adult female with ADHD, I care WAY too much about what others are thinking and doing to NOT consider consequences and feel shame about my choices, if necessary, but one does not need to have ADHD to feel shame or to care about humans on the other side of the world. What it means to ONLY care about how something benefits ME and to only think of about other people insofar as "if I do this than they need to do that' or "she is of no use to me anymore, so I'm cutting her lose" is a totally foreign, other worldly concept. I hope that you or I or any of us really never REALLY understand it, because then we may have lost some of our empathy and caring and feeling that make us who we are now.

I grew up with 2 narcissistic parents but they couldn't hold a candle to this disgusting excuse for a human who is currently occupying the White House. He has been called a special kind of narcissist, a malignant narcissist, and maybe that and the fact that so many narcissistic politicians are up his ass is maybe what adds to the extreme danger he is to us and the world. But I don't know. These are only my somewhat, my not totally, educated guesses.

In this dark times, helping in your community is said to be salve for your soul. Even if you can only donate canned food to a food pantry, or a little money to an LGBTQIA+ organization in your community, or print some cards for an immigrant organization so they can hand them out to people that need them, or hugging your loved ones. Mutual aid is what organizers are preaching now (I mean if you can call your senators, congress person, state and local reps too that would be FANTASTIC, but I digress) and that is what all of those former examples are. And if you need some of those supports, reach out for them.

It's been almost 2 years ago now, when someone, I think his name was ummm David something, started with a B and reminded me of my last name, but whatever, that in an airplane when there is an emergency, they always say that the adults need to put their masks on first BEFORE they help their children or others who need help. Because if you don't take care of YOU first, you won't be around to help anyone else. I think of that often. Especially now in these last 16 years...ooops...days. We need to take care of us first, whatever that looks like for each of us, before we can really do anything for anyone else.
