Ugh. Social media is anything but, and unmoderated boards are havens for trolls. But you're right about Dan.
I admire and like Dan. He would be a great tavern-keeper, on top of being able to save your life. But a bar, a restaurant is self-policing. If some shithead staggers in, vomiting propaganda that they've inhaled in the name of "doing their own research," starts insulting the maitre d, etc, manhandling the bartender, whatever, he's tossed out on his heel. "86ed," they used to call it. Unless the place encourages that kind of behavior, in which case you avoid the place.
So maybe my first compromise is the only suitable one. Just resist the curiosity and consider it a bar I won't go to. Social media, I've found, is just not for me. I will miss Reg's essays.
