I sincerely hope you are right, and that enough of the GOP will grow a spine - past attempts however has all failed... - Thing is, it is clear that ALL the latest written stuff who is supposed to look like it is coming from Trump, has clearly been written by Miller and that guy is even more insane than Trump. By now Trump is a puppet. 
The only thing Trump cares about is legacy and that is where Greenland sadly fits like a glove to his sense of legacy. 
Things can spin out of control in a matter of days if Trump feels threatened and he thinks the only way out is to act fast (like Venezuela). Rational thinking does not play into this whatsoever, else the whole Greenland thing would be a non-issue (There are minuscule amounts of Russian/Chinese boats and they ARE tracked by NATO, minerals/oil/etc is EXTREMELY expensive to extract hence not worth it at all and so on and so on)... 
I am very worried about how fast think can escalate in this environment.
