I don't have any technical expertice in the issue but I do know that digital has a high frequency "noise" that sometimes bothers my ears vs. analog.
I do enjoy the fact that my guitar amp can impersonate a chit load of guitar/amp combinations at the flip of a dial but a real tube amp does provide more "warmth" ( there's that word again ).
