Right after Clark announced his candidacy for president, he came to Madison. I was impressed with what he was saying, and really thought he had a shot at winning the Dem's nomination. His actions during that visit had me immediately second-guessing his ability to win. He had (allegedly) come down with laryngitis, but then stopped for an extended visit with some Bosnians that were at the rally. I immediately thought that this is a man that won't take an opportunity to rally his foot soldiers, but will make the time to accept accolades.
My opinion of him since has declined greatly. While still able to whip out a sound bite, he far too often seems to be backpedaling whenever he's asked about any earlier statements. I saw him on some talk show recently where he was asked about a rally where he was laughing at something Michael Moore said about our yellow belly coward of a Commander-in-Chief. Clark defended himself by saying he wasn't laughing at what was being said, and that he really had no proof of Bush's military service. Whatfuckingever.
So while I do think that was a nice quote about the current crop of counterfeit Christians, I don't think Wesley Clark has the 'nads to do anything more with it.
