Sorry for splitting a hair, but I was not talking about NPR, but PBS. Let's see...on PBS you have The McLaughlin Group; then John McLaughlin has his own interview show; Louis Rukeheyser (sp), then The Nightly Business Report; then the ability of the right to squash documentaries on P.O.V. How's that for a start?
McLaughlin I have heard of but doesnt he have a panel or something. I find him and that show a little annoying. I've never even heard of the rest. NPR was just a comparison probably a bad one
As for the Sunday morning shows....even conservative pundits agree that George Steph----whatever, has taking bigger bites out of Clinton et al.....and I've seen Russert harsher on Dems than Repubs many times. It's like someone said earlier, owners are mainly middle of the road to right and they don't want to offend those in power so they won't come on their shows.
Russert is decidedly Democrat but I enjoy his interviews. He comes across intelligent. I still think he leans left but it is not obvious.
Now look at the cable shows....Fox is a given. Not one show moderated by a true liberal. They have Tony Snow and Brit Hume with entire hours of newscasts. Hell, the liberals should look into filing an election law violation for some sort of equal time balance.
Let me ask you something. Do you think those shows would last without ratings? Somebody's watching
CNN used to have Jesse Jackson but no longer. Now all we have is Phil Donahue. Even Chris Mathews is tougher on democrats than repubs and he used to work for Tip O'neill. .
Chis Mathews is a mixed bag but get him around Democrats like Hillary or Bill and he is coming all over himself he gets so excited. That college campus thing with him and Hillary and Algore was a joke. That was'nt hardball it was softball. Just once I would like to see Hillary on for 30 minutes with the likes of Bill Oreilly. See what she is made of
